Late Week Wisdom

Lots of things going on in the league this week, from Marc Bulger's benching to Plaxico Burress getting suspended by his own team. We'll get to some of that next week, but for now let's look at those guys you might consider starting and sitting for the week.

Start

Jake Delhomme QB CAR
- He's got a juicy match up vs ATL this week and their young corners. Steve Smith returned last week to the tune of 70 yards on 4 catches, but expect him to get deep a few times this week for at least 1 TD. Don't hesitate to plug him into your lineup. (285 yards, 3 TDs)

Selvin Young RB DEN - I don't usually recommend a DEN RB because of the uncertainty of how Mike Shanahan will split the carries, but this week's match up vs KC is too good to pass up. You might even consider starting Young's teammate Michael Pittman, who's getting the TDs. (125 yards, 1 TD)

Jonathan Stewart RB CAR - Here's another guy that should have a big day in the CAR/ATL game. I expect CAR to get up early with big throws to Smith, but Stewart should get the ball a ton in the 2nd half to seal up the win. Look for a split with DeAngelo Williams still, but Stewart is the one you want to start. (75 yards, 2 TDs)

Chad "Ocho Cinco" Johnson WR CIN - Well, this is his last chance. CIN showed signs of life last week vs NY and this is the week they have to break out on offense. Chad didn't get the catches last week, but he came out and said that he's going to do it this week. He took off the harness for his shoulder and I'm expecting him to get in the endzone for the first time. (75 yards, 1 TD)

Josh Reed WR BUF - When Roscoe Parrish went down with an injury, many expected rookie WR James Hardy to step in behind Lee Evans. Well, it's been Reed who has stepped up. He's been solid so far, but this could be the week he explodes. BUF faces one of the worst secondaries in the league in STL and I could see Edwards go to the air early to get the lead. (110 yards, 1 TD)

Sit

Jason Campbell QB WAS - Campbell had a tough opening week, but since has really performed well. He lit up the tough Arizona defense last week for almost 200 yards and 2 TDs, but this week he faces a much tougher challenge. He heads to DAL for a NFC East show down. DAL cemented their position as the team to beat in the NFC last week and they'll look again to prove their position. WAS will have to throw to win, but that means some INTs for Campbell. (225 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs)

Matt Forte RB CHI - How can I sit one of the surprise rookie RBs of the year? Well, I don't think he'll get totally shut out, but the PHI defense has been the best in the league vs the run. CHI will also probably be down early and PHI will force Kyle Orten to beat them. That will lead to less carries for Forte. (65 yards, 0 TDs)

Greg Jennings WR GBY - This is yet another surprise sit. Again, I don't think Jennings will get shut out, but don't look for the big numbers on the road vs TBY. CHI did well against them last week, but with Ryan Grant hurting, I think the Bucs will take away the deep ball and force Aaron Rodgers to work underneath. This would limit Jennings' chances as Donald Driver is the possession receiver. (70 yards, 0 TDs)

I'm going out on the limb with a few guys this week, but what fun it is to play it safe? Hopefully I can continue my string of solid picks. I'll be back next Tuesday to see how I did and give you a few more guys to go after.
