Throughout the year I hope to provide you some insight every week. First, like I did last week, I'll give you some start/sit options each week based on injuries, match ups, etc. Secondly, I want to give you my take on some of the action from the week's past games so you can jump on those waiver wire gems or buy low or sell high on guys for the week.
So let's get is started with some of the not-so obvious names to grab off of the wire (we all know about Matt Cassell by now, right?)...
DeSean Jackson WR PHI - Rookie WRs rarely make a big impact, but Jackson could be an exception. He's got the opportunity with Curtis and Brown banged up. He's got a QB who likes to throw a lot. And he's got speed to get deep. I think he emerges as the best WR option in PHI for the year, even when Curtis gets back. Pass on Baskett and Lewis and grab Jackson.
Anthony Fasano TE MIA - Unless you have a top 4 or 5 TE, you're always looking for that sleeper. This week there were a few that came out of nowhere. Fasano is the best of the bunch, in my opinion. He had 84 yards and a TD and I look for similar numbers week in and week out. He could lead the Dolphins in receptions this year.
Sammy Morris RB NE - NE has been here before. Tom Brady was the unknown QB to take over for Drew Bledsoe when he went down and lead the Patriots to a SB a few years ago. They did it by running the ball and tough defense. I think Cassell will be a solid back up QB option, but the focus of their offense will be the running game. While Maroney gets the press, Morris delivers the numbers. I think he outproduces Maroney this year and could still be on the wire in your league.
It's tough to buy low or sell high after one week, but I'll just quickly run down a few names on either side, just in case they come up in trade talks. Some are obvious, but some you might not be. I'll also throw out some guys you just want to hold onto because the jury is still out on them.
Buy low - Stephen Jackson, Santonio Holmes, Matt Schaub, Marques Coltson
Sell high - Joseph Addai (he scares me), Larry Johnson, Reggie Bush, Eddie Royal
Hold - Michael Turner, Maurice Jones-Drew, Torry Holt, Derek Anderson
I'll be back at the end of the week to run down next week's options for your lineup.
