Late Week Wisdom

Week 8 brings some big names on byes including Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Matt Forte, Kyle Orten (yes he’s a big name), Adrian Peterson, Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings, and Ryan Grant. Don’t worry we’ve got you covered with some guys to grab and plug right in this week.

Start Jeff Garcia QB TBY – He’s righted the ship after an early season mess and has run Gruden’s offense flawlessly. Look for him to pick apart a DAL D that let Marc Bulger beat them. (255 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs)

Steve Slaton RB HOU – CIN is awful vs the run. M. Moore proved that last week and look for HOU to do the same thing this week. Despite sharing carries with Ahman Green, Slaton should do enough to justify top billing this week. (115 combined yards, 1 TD)

Thomas Jones RB NYJ – Jones is the next RB in line to shred the KC defense. Lendale White and Chris Johnson ripped them apart for over 300 yards rushing. With both Jets WRs banged up, look for Favre to feed Jones as they cruise to an easy win. Even Leon Washington could be a solid #3RB/Flex option this week. (135 yards, 1 TD)

Nate Washington WR PIT – With the breaking news of Santonio Holmes getting caught with marijuana today, PIT has benched him from practice today and this week’s game vs NY. Washington was already the deep threat over the last few games, but now he’ll be starting opposite Hines Ward and the main deep threat again. Look for PIT to need to throw to keep up with NY and Washington should benefit. (85 yards, 1 TD)

Antonio Bryant WR TBY – Following up the Garcia recommendation, Bryant should be the main benefit of Garcia’s solid game. DAL is majorly banged up in the secondary and Bryant should get open early and often this week. (85 yards, 1 TD)

Sit

Matt Ryan QB ATL – Ryan’s been a huge surprise this year, as has the entire Falcons’ team. This week will be a reality check vs an aggressive PHI D. Look for them to blitz Ryan a lot and the rookie could be running for his life the entire game.

Willie Parker RB PIT – Still recovering from his knee injury, Parker missed practice today on Friday and looks very iffy for this week’s game vs NY. I think PIT will take it easy on Parker even if he’s healthy enough to start.

Dominic Rhodes RB IND – Joseph Addai is a long shot to play this week, but you don’t want part of either guy vs the tough TEN D on Monday Night.

Santonio Holmes WR PIT – As I mentioned above with Nate Washington, make sure Holmes isn’t in your lineup this week. He could be suspended for up to 4 games with his drug arrest.
